Commenting On Posts

Commenting On Posts

I am becoming a regular blogger and a regular comment-er on blogs

When putting a blog together it can take me 2, 3, 4 or even 5 hours sometime. Whether that is normal or just me. I’m not sure. Although I have spoken to others who sent similar times putting together a blog.

So I find it interesting when the comments people put/leave on blogs and not just my blog but most blogs that I have been commenting on are short and general like.

“Great post, thank for sharing”, “Awesome tips, I appreciate the you sharing it”, oie_CQZlwP19mtzq

Yes I must admit that I have left comment like that as well. Normally when I can’t think of anything else to say. And a comment like that is better than no comment at all. Right?

Well yes and no! What do I mean by that? Yes it is leaving a comment which creates a link/back link between yours and their site which, in theory, is correct. And no, I believe that the search pick up on those short comment and see it as poor interaction or someone just trying to create links.

When I see short comments like that, I start to think have they actually read the/my blog (depending whether I saw it on my post or someone elses’ post) Comments like that are general comments that you could say about any post regardless of what the post is actually about.

Now if you put a comment like

I don’t agree you when you say that a comment like “great post, thanks for sharing” is a general comment and could say about any post regardless of what the post is actually about. because you would have had to read the post to know that it was a great post.

This shows that you have read the post and do have an opinion. It also show the search engine that there is some decent interaction happening with this post.

Also, be a little controversial with your comment and show that you have an opinion. This can help get more interaction and the more interaction the more the search engines like it.

This doesn’t just apply to blog posts. It is good practice to write a sentence or two on social media like Facebook, YouTube, Google + etc. But with social media you can also tag the person you are commenting on and use hash tag as well.

If you apply this you will find that you and your posts will start getting found by the search engines.

How do you comment? with a general comment or with a comment that shows you have actually read the blog? Let me know in the comments below

Have a lovely day

Hi Robbie If I am under Pressure I will add a non specific thanks for that I really enjoyed it…. I do understand what you mean though I love that you have hi-lighted this … I also spend a lot of time preparing blogs for distribution… I also do a lot of research in most of my blogs… yes It annoys me that people do not seem to take interest … however I love any response… If they have a pulse I will take that …

So #robbie I love that you have hi-lghted this I hope this interaction is enough for you… if it isn’t … well TOUGH baby This has taken as much time as writing a Kin Blog….

Thanks Steve. I am glad that you think as I do about commenting on blogs. And Yes your interaction is great. The thing is that the interaction doesn’t just help me and my blog, it also helps you and your blog when you comment on mine.

Yes I’m looking forward to meeting you in Sydney as well.

Thanks again and have a great day

I must admit Robbie I usually leave just a short comment like “great post, thanks for sharing”…. but after realising how much thought and effort is actually put into a blog post, from now on I am going to make more of an effort to comment better than just a quick one liner. Oh and by the way great post & thanks for sharing 🙂 gotta get it in there somewhere!

Thanks Rachel. It is all to easy to leave a short general comment. But as I mentioned that if you write a response that shows you have actually read the post it is better for both you and the blogger.

I must admit, I do try to comment with references to blog posts. As a blogger myself, I understand how much time and effort the author takes to ensure that they deliver some helpful content to its readers. So leaving a considerate comment for the author to know that the information they’ve shared was appreciated and helpful is the least I can do. Great post! Thank you Robbie

You’re not the only one spending hours writing a blog Robbie, they can seem to take ages sometimes! I agree that when you’ve spent the time to write it, a comment that shows it’s actually been read or a genuine opinion is appreciated. Never realised though that it had such a bearing on the search engine side of things. Interesting post Robbie, thanks..

Glad you liked it. Yes the search engines see what you have been doing and if you are interacting on other sites you are still getting your stuff out there and they see that.
